Pune 20 May : Maharashtra cadre IPS officer Suhail Sharma has reached the world’s highest peak Mount Everest today morning.
Sharma is posted as ASP at Mehkar in Buldhana District, & he will join as Add SP Kolhapur, he was chosen as member of the Golden Jubilee Mount Everest Expedition to scale this highest peak.

IAS of 2012, from Rajasthan cadre, Ravindra kumar also IAS of 2011 batch from Sikkim cadre, S Prabhakaran who is IFS of 2011 batch from Karnataka cadre and Saroj kumari IPS of 2011 batch from Gujarat cadre, the team was flagged by Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi.
While proceeding to the expedition Sharma said that Climbing Mount Everest grants the elusive and unique satisfaction that at least in one direction on this planet as we claim our journey to be complete,
Sharma is a native of Amritsar, he had completed his B Tech at Jaypee University of Information Technology at Solan in Himachal Pradesh.
This expedition has been planned by Government of India through the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and the Indian Mountaineering Foundation to celebrate the 50 th anniversary of that event.
This is the first expedition of its kind by selecting IAS, IPS and IFS officers at national level.
Today is the proud moment for the Maharashtra state & also for Indian Administrative Service & Indian Foreign Service officers, as Sharma & the other members of his team conquered the peak.
He becomes the first IPS officer from Maharashtra cadre.
