PUNE JOINT POLICE COMMISSIONER MR SUNIL RAMANAND
Pune 31 Mar 2017 (PCP NEWS) : For the first time in the history, Pune Police invoke MCOCA against Narcotic and Drugs Mafia, said the Joint Police Commissioner of Pune Mr. Sunil Ramanand here this evening.
While speaking with PCP News, Senior Correspondent, Ramanand said that, till date we had enforced MCOCA against Land Grabbers, Food Grains Black Marketers, Extortionists and many hard core criminals, but from many days Narcotics and Drugs deals had increased, peoples involved in this business are finding loopholes and getting bailout from the judiciary, but by using various sections from the IPC and other local special act we have invoked MCOCA, for the first time, against the Gang who is involved in Narcotic Drugs Dealings. Today we have booked Alisher Saudagar, who is the Leader of this Gang, Ashok Bhambure and Neeraj Tekale all from Patil Estate Slums, under 3(1)(ii), 3(2) and 3(4) 0f the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act, Since many years these accused are in this business and by using the discrepancies in the Law, they succeeded to go scot free on Bail said Ramanand.
Ramanand also added that Drug Mafia activities is finding greener pastures and virgin territory everyday, we regularly hear of the Land, Sand, Lottery, Timber, Tender and Extortionist Mafias, in some ways organised crime in India is typical of the region, it is facilitated and spread by extreme levels of corruption and Government inefficiency, it is used by gangsters to intimidate opponents, But what is more disturbing, is that organised crime is attracting the young generation of the country, said Ramanand.
Ramanand, also mentioned that Maharashtra has done well by introducing this MCOC Act, to fight organised crime, this act has not only incorporated all the positive features of the TADA (P)act, after it was scrapped, but has gone several steps ahead making evidence collected through technical surveillance, which is admissible, for possession of Wealth on behalf of Organised Criminals Punishable. It is also significant that the organize crime has been define in Indian Statute. Now it is also necessary to invoke this Act against Drug and Narcotic Mafia, since we are loosing our young generation, which is becoming addict of such drugs day by day.The Joint Police Commissioner also said that Police should use various sections of Indian Penal Code and other Local Special Acts to keep the Jurisdiction Crime Free.
