Pune 01 May 2017 (PCP NEWS) : National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval, himself has taken charge to make the strategy to counter Maoists this time after the government sought a report on counter-offensive operations, following a ghastly Naxal attack in Sukma, Chattisgarh that claimed the lives of 25 Central Reserved Police Force jawans.
While Speaking on the blueprint to target the Maoists, DG Awasthi said to PCP News Correspondent that, the construction of the road is most important and that has been put on hold, as we would be requiring jawans to counter the Naxalites in the area. Around 8,000 CRPF jawans have been deployed in Chattisgarh to combat Maoists. There are about 200-250 leaders of different committees and area commanders of Naxalites in Bastar who keep travelling to Jharkhand, Odisha and Maharashtra for coordination as well as to plan attacks on security forces, PCP News sources said.
Recently in the attack at Sukma, 25 personnel of the Central Reserved Police Force (CRPF), from the 74th Battalion were killed, as they were assisting the local population in road building activity in Sukma. About 300 Maoists came down from hilltops and attacked the personnel while they were having lunch. This is said to be one of the worst Maoist attack in the last seven years.
As per the PCP News sources, Planning for a surgical strike, NSA Doval will hold a meeting through video conferencing on May 2 on Sukma Naxal attack, in the same connection, Director General Maoist operation D M Awasthi has already reach Bijapur while Senior Security Adviser in the Home Ministry, Vijay Kumar is in Sukma, after Director General National Investing Agency, Sharad Kumar submitted its report.
The officers will stay in Chhattisgarh till a robust Anti-Naxal operation is carried out against those involved in the killing of 25 CRPF jawans. PCP/DJ 09 30
