2008 MALEGAON (MAH) BLAST, NATIONAL INVESTIGATION AGENCY (NIA) COURT GRANT BAIL TO TWO ACCUSE.

Malegaon 19 Sept 2017 (PCP NEWS DEVENDRA JAIN) : Self-proclaimed Shankaracharya, Sudhakar Dhar Dwivedi alias Dayanand Pandey alias Swami Amrutanand Devtirth, and Sudhakar Onkarnath Chaturdevi alias Chanakya Sudhakar, who are the accused in the 2008 Malegaon blasts case were granted bail by a special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court, here this afternoon.

On September 29, 2008, a blast happened at the Bhikku Chowk in the Power-loom town of Malegaon in Nashik district, on the eve of Navratri, has claimed six lives and injured 101 others. Initially the investigations were handled by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) which the NIA later took over.

The Bombay High Court had granted bail to Sadhvi Pragyasingh Chandrapal Singh Thakur alias Swami Purnachetanandagiri, while the Supreme Court had granted bail to Lieutenant Colonel Prasad Purohit, who is the officer from Military Intelligence, Sudhakar Dhar Dwivedi alias Dayanand Pandey alias Swami Amrutanand Devtirth, a self-proclaimed Shankaracharya, resident of J&K, was one of the key conspirators of the case, besides this, Sudhakar Onkarnath Chaturvedi alias Chanakya Sudhakar, a resident of Thane, was accused of planning, they were among the key conspirators in the case.
